Alex Oprunenco

Innovation Specialist, UNDP Instanbul Regional Hub & Policy Specialist, UNDP Moldova 

 

 

Alex Oprunenco is Innovation Specialist with UNDP Istanbul Regional Hub for Europe and Commonwealth of Independent States and Policy Specialist with UNDP Moldova. In his regional role Alex leads Hub’s work on exploring how behavioral insights can be applied to development work. His recent work has been focused on applying behavioral insights to treatment of tuberculosis, alcohol consumption and waste management.

 

In Moldova Alex leads work on economic development and public sector innovation. He supports several initiatives looking at using RCTs to measure development impact. Before joining UNDP in 2011, Alex worked for leading Moldova independent economic policy think-tank Expert-Grup where he dealt with political economy, trade and development issues. He holds MA in Political Science from the Central European University (Hungary).
