Andrea Schneider

Deputy Head of Staff for Policy Planning, Office of Germany's Federal Chancellor

 

 

Andrea Schneider is Deputy Head of Staff for Policy Planning in the Office of Germany's Federal Chancellor, Angela Merkel. Her area of work is the development, implementation, and supervision of strategic innovation projects, including the Chancellor's 'Dialogue on Germany's future' and the government strategy 'Wellbeing in Germany – what matters to people'. The Chancellors' 'International German Forum' in an international network on innovation for wellbeing. The project 'effective government' promotes the use of empirical methods of social sciences as well as behavioural insights within the government to raise effectiveness.

Before joining the Federal Chancellery in 2007 she has taught economic policy and development economics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and worked as a director of the economic and social policy group at the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation. Her research included labour market, health care, and social policy issues as well as the history and principles of classical liberalism and the German Social Market Economy. She has a PhD in economics from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
