Ashley Whillans 

PhD Student and Public Scholar, University of British Columbia

 

 

Ashley Whillans is a PhD student in Social Psychology and Public Scholar at the University of British Columbia. Since starting graduate studies, Ashley has won 23 merit-based scholarships to fund her studies and research, totaling $200,000+. Ashley is passionate about putting science to work to solve real world problems. Her MA thesis, recently published in Organizational Behavior & Human Decision Making Processes, examines how thinking about the economic value of time impacts engagement in environmental behavior.

 

Ashley has also collaborated with several charitable organizations, including Peter Singer's charity The Life You Can Save, where she is an advisory board member. As part of her dissertation, she is working with the White House Social Behavioral Sciences Team to explore how time incentives impact job performance and satisfaction.
