Jana Gallus

Post-doctoral Fellow, Harvard Kennedy School

 

 

Jana Gallus is a post-doctoral fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School who analyzes symbolic incentives and their motivational effects. She received her PhD in Economics from the University of Zurich, with the distinction summa cum laude, and she holds two Master's degrees, from Sciences Po Paris and the University of St. Gallen.

 

Jana's research interests lie in behavioral economics and strategy as well as in political economics. In her PhD, she conducted a large-scale, long-term natural field experiment at Wikipedia to test the effectiveness of purely symbolic awards in raising the retention of new editors. With her research, Jana aims to examine ways of fostering the private provision of public goods.

 

Her work has been published in various journals, including the Strategic Management Journal, Labour Economics, and Applied Economics. She has also advised organizations in the private and non-profit sectors on the design of incentives and award schemes.
