Maya Shankar

Senior Advisor for the Social and Behavioural Sciences, White House Office for Science and Technology Policy 

 

 

Maya Shankar, serves as Senior Advisor for the Social and Behavioral Sciences at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. As part of a broader Presidential effort to use evidence to drive better results, in 2014 she spearheaded the creation of the White House Social and Behavioral Sciences Team -- a group of researchers that leverages behavioural science insights to design public policies that work better, cost less and better serve the Nation.

 

In 2013, Maya completed a post-doctoral fellowship in cognitive neuroscience at Stanford, after receiving a Ph.D. from Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship and a B.A. from Yale in cognitive science. She is a former graduate of the Juilliard School of Music pre-college division and a private violin student of Itzhak Perlman.
