Research Associate, University College London

Nichola Raihani is a Senior Research Associate in the University College London Research Department of Genetics, Evolution and Environment. She is interested in the mechanisms that underpin cooperation. In particular, she is interested in why individuals invest to help one another when they would seemingly do better to behave in a more self-interested manner.

She has worked on a variety of non-human model systems and has recently become increasingly focused on human decision-making in the context of cooperation. She employs insights from evolutionary biology, economics and psychology to ask when and why people are motivated to help others.
