Shlomo Benartzi

Shlomo Benartzi is a behavioral economist, interested in combining the insights of psychology and economics to solve big societal problems. He received a Ph.D. from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management, and is currently a Professor and co-chair of the Behavioral Decision-Making Group at UCLA Anderson School of Management.

 

Along with Richard Thaler, he pioneered the Save More Tomorrowâ„¢ program (SMarT), a behavioral prescription designed to help employees increase their savings rates gradually over time. Shlomo has also advised government agencies in the U.S. and abroad and has worked with many financial institutions. He currently serves as an academic advisor and chief behavioural economist for the Allianz Global Investors Centre for Behavioural Finance.

 

His current focus is online behavior, with the goal to improve online decision-making by designing more effective information and choice architectures. Shlomo is currently at work on a book, THE SMARTER SCREEN: Surprising Ways to Influence and Improve Online Behavior, due to be published by Penguin Portfolio later this year.
